단순히 그림을 돌리면(책 또는 스마트폰을 돌리면)

내용이 달라진다는 것이 아니라

만사 양면성(duality)과 동일성(unity)

또는 동시성(synchronization)을 따라 작용하는

3위1체 원리의 진리가 적용되는

사람 삶의 지혜를 가르치는 것이니,

즉 '이것'이 있으면 반드시 그 반대되는 '저것'이

있다는 증거가 되고

'저것'이 있으면 반드시 '이것'도 함께 존재한다는

증명이 된다는 것이 3위1체의 원리.

그 반대되는 것을 굳이(일부러) 증명할

필요가 없다는 것으로서

이와 비슷한 것으로 prima facie evidence라는 것이 있지만

3위1체 원리는 이런 정도의 수준을

훨씬 뛰어넘는 것이다

즉 '양자 얽힘'에서 "업스핀(UP spin)" 상태의 미립자가 있으면 그 반대되는 성질 곧 "다운스핀(DOWN spin)" 상태의 짝이 되는 소립자가 존재한다는 증거가 되는 것이고, 빛의 성질에서 입자성(particle)이 확증되었으면 그 정반대되는 파동성(particle)이 동시에 작동되고 있음을 부수적으로 증명함이 되는 것

애초에는 빙그레 웃는
모습을 그리려 했다

두 눈과 빙그레 웃는 입을 그리고

이 희열을 강조하는 표현으로 두 눈썹을 치켜 올리는 시늉의 획을 하나 더 이마 위에다 그었다. 그렇게 행복해하는 모습의 그림이 완성되는 순간, 바로 그 순간에 그와 정반대되는 모습의 그림이 동시에 완성되고 있었다. 즉 그림을 거꾸로 해서 반대 방향으로 놓고 보니 웃는 모습이 아니라 불만과 실의에 가득 찬 모습으로 되어 있었던 것이다.

애초 그림자를 만들기 위해 빛이 생긴 것이 아니건마는 빛이 생기매 그림자도 동시에 생긴 것이다. 문제는, 이 야누스와 같은 만물 만상의 양 측면을 동시에 보기가 어렵다는 것이다. 어느 쪽이든 그 한쪽만을 보게 되어 있는 것. 따라서 다른 한 쪽은 간과하기가 쉽다. 우리 인간의 불행과 실수 실책 그리고 하고많은 고통은 대체적으로 여기서 비롯된다. 오늘날의 인간 불행은 이같이 양면 중의 일면만을 본 결과로 생긴 비극이라는 사실은 의미심장한 것이다.

빛이 있으니 그림자 있고 그림자 있으니 정녕 빛이 있다. 오늘 여기가 낮이면 우리와 정반대되는 곳은 정녕 밤이다. 낮이 있음은 밤이 있음을 증명함이요 밤이 있음은 낮의 존재를 확인시켜 줌이다. 이것이 만물 만상의 양면성이요 둉시성이다. 3운법칙으로 검증되는 3위1체 원리의 골자다. 정반대의 양상이 동시에 존재하고 전개되는 것이다.

진리는 일상적인 평범한 데 있다. 심산유곡에 들어가 천신만고 끝에 얻어지거나 쟁취되는 것이 아니다. 초점을 먼 데에다 맞추기 때문에 진리가 보이지를 않는 법이다. 이 근본 진리를 훌륭하게 상징하는 예의 그림에서도 나타나듯이 이 양측면은 애초부터 상호 양립함이 아니라 하나는 파생되고 다른 하나는 그것을 낳는 즉 파생시킨 모자(母子) 관계에 있는 것. 왜냐면 처음부터 두 개의 모습을 그린 것이 아니라 빙그레 웃는 하나의 모습을 그렸는데도 우거지상의 찡그리는 모습이 부수적으로 생긴 것이다.

다시 말해서 빙그레 웃는 모습이 상을 찡그리는 모습을 파생시킨 것이다. 이것을 인과 관계라 불러도 좋다.

인과 관계이므로 인과 과, 이 둘은 처음부터 하나였고 현재로 하나이며 또한 영원히 그러할 것이다. 내가 애초 어디서 왔고 장차 어디로 갈 것이며 현재 어떤 위치에 있느냐 하는 이 뿌리 깊은 인간 숙제도 이같은 우주 만물의 양면성과 그 양 측면의 인과 관계라는 진리 속에 그대로 압축되어 있다. 인간이 꿈꾸는 이상향이라는 것은 인간 구성원 모두가 하나처럼 예외없이 이같은 한 몸 의식에서 사는 삶이다.

이상향이 이상향으로만 남고 현실화되지 못하는 까닭은 인간 구성원 전부가 이런 한 몸 의식이 되지를 못하기 때문. 이 한 몸 의식이 바로 자비요, 인이요, 사랑인 것이다.

선악 개념은 어디서 났느냐, 그것을 대립 개념에서 본다면 그 관점은 아주 빗나간 것이다. 우주 만물은 하나이므로 모든 상반되는 양상들은 조화의 개념에서 보아야 그 관점이 옳다. 그렇다면 선과 대치되는 악도 선을 있게 하기 위한 말하자면 필요악인가 하면 그것은 그렇지 않다. 빛이 있음으로써 그림자가 생겼듯이 선이 있음으로써 악이 생긴 것이다. 선이 없었다면 악이라는 개념도 생겨나지 않았을 것.

선이 무엇이냐, 행복한 삶의 조건이다. 모든 것이 좋아야 하지 나쁠 때에는 행복의 요건에서 벗어난다. 보기 흉한 것이 있으면 그 자체가 스트레스를 안겨다 줌과 같다.

때문에 우리 인간 삶으로 말하면 바르고 옳고 의로운 것이니 이 조건을 반드시 지켜져야 하는 것이다. 그러므로 법이요, 이 법을 어기고 지키지 않을 때 위법이 되고 불법, 불의가 되는 것이다. 이 불법이 곧 악이다. 따라서 불법은 걸러내지는 것이요 도태되는 것. 물건을 만들다가 처음 의도한 조건에 미달되는 모든 것을 쓰레기로서 거두어다가 내다 버리는 것과 같다.

쓰레기는 쓰레기대로 모으고 유용한 것들은 유용한 것대로 모으게 된다. 이렇게 결국은 선(좋은 것)과 악(나쁜 것)이 분리될진대 이상향은 장차 반드시 이루어질 전망이다.

그러면 행복한 삶의 조건이란 것이 무엇이냐, 한 몸으로서의 조화를 유지하고 지킴이다. 한 몸일진대 손톱과 발톱이 딴판으로 다르지만 손톱과 발톱이 서로 싸우는 일이 없다. 손톱은 발톱을 자기 몸으로 인식하기 때문이요 발톱 또한 손톱에 대하여 똑같은 인식을 하고 있기 때문이다.

무용지물 즉 쓰레기는 쓰레기더미로 영원히 있고 쓸모 있는 것들은 그들대로 행복한 삶이 요소로서 영원히 존재하게 된다. 이같이 분리되는 과정에 있는 것이 오늘날의 이 인간 세계다. 이 과정이 끝나 정리정돈된 세계가 이뤄지면 이 그림과 같은 두 모습, 두 세계가 확연히 구분되어질 것이니 왜냐면 생명이 세계에서는 상을 찡그릴 일이 아주 없고 죽음의 멸망 세계에서는 환하게 웃을 일이 아주 없을 것이기에ㅡ.

So we have named this smiley-frowny "Aesop's Look" or "Aesop Look", since it gives us one of life's maxims as simple and noble as the fables of Aesop the Wise.

One of the chief problems that people have to face today is that of discouragement. When things are not going very well, when all that happens seems adverse, then discouragement often strikes. And the number one rule to apply when things do not seem to go well is this. Do not react by becoming discouraged ㅡ ever! Never permit yourself to take a discouraged attitude toward any situationㅡbecause there is a way out, there is a solution. And that solution is really very simple. Also it is very wonderful. In fact it is almost miraculous. It is a technique that anyone can employ and it does wonders for all who apply it.

It is simply this: change your attitude; change your slant of mind; change your mental and spiritual approach. Changed attitudes can change things for you or for anybody. Therefore, when you adopt that attitude of POSITIVISM and apply it to any situation, social or personal, you find that the darkness begins to fade and the light begins to come through. So what we really need is a lighted-up mind, a turned-about viewpoint, so that attitudes are changed. And these changed attitudes will change things for you. How does this work out? Well, as you’ve heard many times, one of the secrets is to change from a negative attitude to a positive attitude. When you have a negative attitude, what happens? It actually begets negative results. When you send negative thoughts out into the world around you, you do a very dangerous thing: you activate the world around you negatively.

There is a law - everything has its two sides to look at - bright and dark or the negative side and positive side. Men sometimes are apt to look at the one side only, ignoring the other side totally different. If you look at the negative side you dangerously ignore the positive side of it and if you look at the positive side you are perilously blind to the negative side of it. Everything, every person, and you yourself. Your own self has those two sides. The future also has its own two sides for everyone of us.

There is also a law known as the law of attraction, meaning that like attracts like. So if you send out negative ideas and attitudes, what are you going to get back? Negative results and circumstances, as certainly as there is the sun in the heavens; that is just the way it will work. If, on the contrary, you have a positive attitude, you activate the world around you positively and you draw back to yourself positive results. Why, that would send ripples of positivism flowing everywhere.

You feel unhappy feeling toward others? There surely are some amiable aspects in that person and if you look at them your attitude will change. If you feel discouraged whenever you think of yourself you had better look at your other self - the other self which has some amiable merits which you have so far failed to recognize. Those aspects are enough to encourage you to stand aright again with your head high lifted up. The future seems too much gloomy to you? Well, it surely has the other side to be looked at - sunshiny enough to give you the happiness right needed.

The conditions still wouldn't be easy ㅡ of course not ㅡ but nevertheless positive results would begin to emerge everywhere. This is also true with human beings individually as it relates to their attitudes. If you send out positive thoughts of faith, if you love people, if you believe in people, if you have a strong attitude of faith and optimism, if you send these thoughts out, this conditions the world around you positively and on the basis of the law that like attracts like you get positive results. It would seem magical if it weren't spiritual. Nothing spiritual is magical, but what you can do by shifting your attitude from negative to positive is as astonishing as magic.

So the first step toward changed attitudes which change things for you is to believe without wavering that everything has its two sides to look at. This is true, a truth of life. Then the second step is to get yourself changed so that you think positively, not negatively, because negative begets negative and positive begets positive. If you are full of negativism, turn your viewpoint to the positive side of the thing, the people or the future. The third step is to take an attitude of love and good will toward other people. The forth step is not to ignore the negative side at the same time always preparing yourself for that side or aspect of life.

Change your attitude toward other people and other people will change their attitude toward you. Your attitude toward the people who are around you is always bound to transmit and communicate itself. They say that dog knows when you don't like him. Well, if a dog knows when you don't like him, won't a human being, who has more sensitive antennae, become aware of your feeling? Moreover, if you take a negative attitude of dislike toward others, this itself has a backlash upon you. You actually come presently to not liking yourself. Soㅡyou change situations and conditions and people by a changed attitude, which will change everything for you. You will warm up this big, cold world and bring marvelous blessings to yourself. Changed attitudes will really change things for you.
